Select your SSD disk from the list and right-click on it. After that, choose the "Utilities" to open the Utility folder. Follow the instructional steps that we are going to add now to perform the SSD erasure. The SSD will work for both Windows and Mac out of the box. Step 4: Right-click on the drive and choose "Format.". Connect your SanDisk® SSD to your Windows PC via a SATA connection or a USB adaptor and make sure you have administrative privilege on your system. Click on the Start button of your system and type Disk management. You do not need to format your hard drive first. Or you can right-click the Start button and select "File Explorer." If you get a message telling you that the disk cannot be written to or is not accessible, double-check the connection of your SSD. Follow the on-screen instructions and proceed.

I'm intending to use it for storing and running virtual machines in VMware software such as windows server 2016 and CentOS Linux VMs. The SSD is working great and so is the old hard drive (which is now being used as an external drive). And the only cost seems to be Windows - this one's about 10 Pro- and the use of VMWare and a piece of freeware. Select the file system and set the cluster size.
Connect your external hard drive to the Windows 10 and make sure it can be detected.
